Mission

The Research and Innovation Department at ZEGU is committed to producing impactful research and innovation which transforms lives and communities locally, nationally, regionally and globally in line with the university’s mission. We strive to foster an environment of innovation, research excellence, and Christian values, ensuring that our directorate is equipped to inspire and empower students and staff to become solution-driven, globally connected, and enterprising people.

About Us

  • Research is essential for innovation and the development of novel solutions to current and future challenges facing local communities, the nation and the global community.
  • This is the basis for the heritage-based education philosophy enunciated by government in the Policy Document Education 5.0.
  • The Directorate is responsible for guiding and overseeing all research and innovation in the University working through Faculties and the Research and Innovation Committee.
  • Identification of talent through Faculties and departments is also key to the Directorate.
  • Collaboration and partnerships with industry through innovation add to the mandate of the directorate.
  • The broad function of the Research and Innovation Directorate is to spearhead the implementation of the University’s research and innovation strategy and policies by Faculties, Institutes and Directorates of the University towards the achievement of the institution’s strategic objectives ensuring direct contribution to the NDS1 and National Vision 2030.

Overview of the Directorate

  • To operationalise its mandate the ZEGU Research and Innovation Directorate (RID) shall engage several activities to achieve its goals.
  • The operating arms of the Directorate are the research institutes and centres that have been defined by the global University plan.
  • On the other hand, the research institutes and centres have their role and mandate made possible by a deliberate engagement of the lecturers, students and partners that they identify, from time to time to articulate a concept, principle, theory or a challenge.
  • The RID coordinates the activities of Research and Innovation organised within and without ZEGU as an institution.
  • The idea is to workshop around critical areas that see the strengthening of Research Institutes and Centres.
