Vision

The quality assurance strategy supports ZEGU’s vision of being a leading global innovative and research-driven Christian university producing a total person.

Mission

The Quality Assurance and Enhancement Directorate exists to implement the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) for ZEGU which enhances the effectiveness of its core activities of learning and teaching, research and innovation, industrialization, and community engagement and outreach.

Values

  • Quality is engrained through culture
  • Quality assurance is strengthened by policies, procedures and practices
  • Inclusivity and consideration of diverse views enhance quality
  • Real learning is the foundation for real impact

Approaches

  • ZEGU’s IQA framework is based on ZIMCHE’s 17 standards and uses the systems, process and total quality management approaches.
  • The implementation of IQA mechanisms should create a sense of responsibility and an increased awareness of the systems and process approach throughout the institution.
  • The Directorate works with all units, and departments ensuring that they are guided by policies, procedures and practices that are in alignment with the university's strategic goals and positively affect the learner’s journey.
  • The pillars of ZEGU quality assurance and enhancement strategy include:
    • Valuing external reviews and benchmarking;
    • Monitoring and evaluating university products and services; and
    • Ensuring development of policies and practices to promote high performance and development of faculty and non-teaching staff.

Target Group and Rationale

  • Critical collaborative groups for an effective Internal Quality Assurance include:
    • Faculty and non-teaching staff
    • Students
    • Alumni
    • Parent body
    • Employers
    • Industry and business leaders
    • Civil society
    • ZAOGA FIF as the ZEGU Responsible Authority
  • QAE should be embedded in all of ZEGU’s processes, products and services.
  • This should guarantee the integrity and value of ZEGU’s awards and qualifications.

Contribution To Education 5.0 Statement

  • The ZIMCHE Standards and Guidelines to Quality Assurance for Higher Education has specifications on effective implementation of Heritage Based Education 5.0.
  • Every aspect of university business and operations has a specific standard that should be fulfilled.
  • ZEGU IQA will ensure that the standards have been applied and even excelled to ensure that quality assurance systems are ‘fit for purpose’.
  • ZEGU IQA will also monitor the quality of the learner journey and their employability.

QAED Staff

The department is manned by a Director, Senior Institutional Analyst, Administrative Assistant and Graduate Trainee. More staffing is expected to ensure that all departments and units of the university have developed policies, procedures and practices that promote the practical application of all seventeen ZIMCHE standards.
